Football: Stealth is this Nighthawk's aim during Rosenblatt visit
Brian Melekian's goal in spending two days at Rosenblatt Stadium was to make sure no one knew any work had been done. Melekian is the director of business management for the United Football League. Baseball: USA tops Japan at Rosenblatt
Drew Maggi picked a good night Wednesday to show signs that he's ready to bust out of a slump. The infielder from Arizona State led the U.S. national team to a 4-1 victory over the Japanese Collegiate All-Stars before 3,167 at Rosenblatt Stadium. »

Notes: Japanese appreciate hospitality
The Japanese Collegiate All-Stars were told to be prepared for new experiences on their visit to Omaha to play the U.S. national team. So imagine the surprise when the players showed up in Clarinda, Iowa, on Monday to play a baseball game and found about 20 of their countrymen in attendance. “They asked, ‘What are you doing in this town?' ” said Jyunpei Tomonaga, who is serving as an interpreter during the Japanese team's trip.

The last time Drew Maggi played in Rosenblatt Stadium he wore the maroon and gold of ASU. When he steps onto the Rosenblatt field Wednesday, Maggi will be wearing the red, white and blue of the USA. Last ’Blatt ball located at last
Brett Krill took home from the College World Series a piece of Omaha baseball history. But don’t assume the UCLA right fielder is thinking that having in his possession the last baseball hit in a CWS at Rosenblatt Stadium is his ticket to riches. “I don’t want anything out of this,’’ Krill said. “It’s not going to be showing up on eBay.’’ In a phone interview with The World-Herald from his home in California, Krill said he is uncertain what...

USA Baseball is looking at a roster of 36 players that it must trim to 22 by Sunday night. Chemistry was key for S.C. title team
By winning the College World Series, the South Carolina baseball team showed everyone how well it played together on the field. But the national championship was won by how well the players got along off it. Successful teams find a way to develop a unity that can best be built when the pressure’s not on. Whenever 35 people from nine states are thrown together, the mix can be either harmonious or combustible. But this group managed to blend nicely into the same shade of garnet.
