Dining Notes: After a year off, Rhizosphere Farm will again offer CSA

« Food

Rhizosphere Farm is back in business, and this year will again offer a CSA (community supported agriculture).

People who join the farm’s CSA will get fresh produce delivered each week starting in June and ending in October.

Each week, the farm will deliver the vegetables and send members an email with information about what will be in the box and update members on farm happenings. The CSA email will include recipes and ideas on how to use unfamiliar produce.

At some point during the season, the farm plans to invite its members to a special CSA Day celebration.

The CSA boxes are usually enough food for a family of four or two vegetarians. A full share is $600. If the full share is too much food, the farm will do its best to split shares between members looking to share. The farm has 25 spots available for the year. The deadline for payment is May 1. Those who send full payment by Feb. 20 will get a $50 discount.

For more information, call 712-310-3715 or visit rhizospherefarm.org. The website is under construction but will be complete soon.

Sushi and sake dinner at Hiro, Hiro 88

For the first time, Hiro and Hiro 88 are having a sushi and sake dinner, one at each of their three locations.

The sushi menu will include edgier items than what the restaurants normally serve, such as live sea urchin, giant clam sashimi and masago nigiri, an Icelandic caviar. Six courses of food will each be paired with a sake tasting.

The dinners take place Jan. 20 at the Old Market location, Jan. 21 at the West Maple Road location and Jan. 22 in Lincoln’s Haymarket.

The dinners take place from 6-10 p.m. each day and the cost is $65 before tax or tip. For more information or to make a reservation, visit hiro88.com.

All the pancakes you care to eat at IHOP

The International House of Pancakes wants you to ring in 2014 with as much food as you care to eat.

The restaurant’s “all you can eat pancakes” special is running once again around the country, and continues through Feb. 9.

Buttermilk pancakes are available as a stand-alone order or as part of a combo meal and come two to an order. For more information or to find an IHOP restaurant near you, visit IHOP.com.
