The attorney for an Iowa State football player charged in a credit card case has entered a not-guilty plea for his client.
David Sims, a senior and one of the football team’s best players, has been charged with unauthorized use of a credit card, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Sims’ not-guilty plea was filed with the court Thursday, according to online court records, along with a written arraignment and a waiver of the preliminary hearing Sims is entitled to.
The plea is somewhat at odds with a previous court filing that indicated the judge in the case had been told by both parties that Sims intended to proceed straight to a formal arraignment and disposition at the hearing, which is scheduled for Monday.
Sims was expected to submit a written guilty plea and waiver of time before sentencing prior to the hearing.
