NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) — A Norfolk man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a 30-year-old woman.
Norfolk police say 31-year-old Leodan Alarcon Chavez is suspected of first-degree murder, among other charges. He's due in court on Thursday.
Police say Maria Villareal was found suffering from multiple stab wounds about 6 a.m. Wednesday by officers responding to a reported disturbance at a Norfolk apartment. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
Chavez was also in the apartment. Police say he came after officers with knives and was subdued with a stun gun.
Chavez was being held Wednesday in the Norfolk jail. It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.
Police say there's no known address for Chavez. No number was listed for him in Norfolk.
