The Iowa Department of Transportation has named 24 Iowa airports to participate in a pavement condition study.
The Federal Aviation Administration awarded more than $2.3 million to the airports to study, establish and maintain a pavement maintenance and management program.
Airports in western Iowa included in the program are: Atlantic, Audubon, Boone, Carroll, Guthrie County and Shenandoah.
Shenandoah City Administrator Bo Harris said he was pleased to receive an FAA grant.
“They don’t always see us here in southwest Iowa, and so it’s nice when they do give us a look,” Harris said. “This is an opportunity for us to make sure our runway is in the best shape it can be in.”
