River in Sarpy watched

A mile-long ice jam in western Sarpy County flooded some county roads and prompted law enforcement agencies to notify nearby residents of the rising waters.

But emergency management officials say the immediate danger of serious flooding has passed.

The jam was centered just south of Q Street, and swelled the Platte River near the Vencil's Island area.

At least one access road is being blocked near 252nd and West Q Streets, emergency management officials said, but the ice jam has broken and pressure on the river is easing.

Law enforcement officials are checking the area and advising residents of the risks, but no formal evacuations are underway.
