FLAVORS, 1901 Farnam St. This twinkly new downtown Indian eatery feels like a Bollywood party at a Holiday Inn and serves up a similarly colorful and spicy jumble. The $8.99 buffet can be hit-or-miss, but offers a lot of food for the money, and the larger a la carte menu includes one of the best lamb biryanis around.
Hours: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Closed Sundays. Information: 933-4140 or click here.
Prices: $10 to $20 per person.
Mom scoop: There's no children's menu and not much room to run around. The grownup food can be quite spicy and is pricier than you might expect for takeout. But the chef will make kid-appropriate portions of milder dishes, like sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, chicken or fish sticks, on request.
