Tater tots

MATT MILLER/World-Herald

For a taste of chef-owner Dario Schicke's native Sarajevo, patrons might try the pljeskavica. The patty of spiced ground lamb and beef oozes with a tangy mixture of four cheeses and is topped with a roasted vegetable relish called ajvar.

Dario's Brasserie

DARIO’S BRASSERIE, 4920 Underwood Ave.

This laid-back three-year-old French-Belgian eatery in Dundee just keeps getting better — with added Sunday brunches, seasonally shifting specials, soulful sous side dishes and hints of chef-owner Dario Schicke’s Bosnian roots. Mussels, crepes, frites and Belgian beer never disappoint, and specials strike a balance between creativity and French classics.

Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. Closed Mondays. (Bar is open later.)

Information: 933-0799.

Prices: $ to $$$ per person.

Mom scoop: Dario's doesn't have a set kid's menu, but chef-owner Dario Schicke says he can whip up mild pasta, cheesy crepes or grilled cheese sandwiches for kids -- or anyone who is scared of the mussels. We didn't see many kids there in the evenings, but little ones seemed right at home there at lunch or Sunday brunch.
