Best for kids 2 and older
What you do:
Fill a large covered container with beans, rice or small pasta such as elbow macaroni. Place an assortment of different size plastic cups, containers, funnels, scoops and spoons inside. Spread an old sheet or tablecloth on the floor and place the box in the middle.
Let your child practice digging, filling and pouring the items. Try burying your child’s hand in it, just like in the sand! This is a great activity for you to practice taking turns with your child.

I have a very active 20 month old daughter so I wasn't sure she would sit and play with the bean box for very long. I was pleasantly surprised when I put the box on the kitchen floor with a few measuring spoons. My active little girl sat quietly for 45 minutes, YES 45 minutes, scooping and pouring the beans back in the container. She would have kept going if it wasn't dinner time! Great idea for winter cabin fever!

kb, I'm so happy to hear this worked for you! Woo-hoo!
45 minutes? That totally rocks.

My two year old son had so much fun with his bean boxl! Luckily he knew not to eat the beans. He did pour all of the beans on the floor a few times, so that is something we will have to work on! So much fun!
