Amy Adams stars in "Leap Year"

Week in movies

"Leap Year" (PG) An okay date movie for teens, since it's that rare romantic comedy in which the two main characters actually don't sleep with each other during the film. But it got middling reviews.

"The Spy Next Door" (PG) Jackie Chan is looking older in this comedy about an ex-secret agent who babsits his girlfriend's three kids, only to have his old nemesis, a Russian agent, return to the scene. Bad reviews, but reasonably clean.

"The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" (PG-13) Heath Ledger's last movie centers on a traveling wagon of show performers and a magic mirror that sends people to fantasy worlds of their imaginations. It's an allegory about good and evil, with some disturbing images but nothing too intense for teens. Younger kids would be bored. Actually, teens might be, too.

"The Lovely Bones" (PG-13) Disturbing images of the victims of a serial killer-rapist make this too intense for young kids. Probably okay for teens, who will want to see it because Peter Jackson ("Lord of the Rings") directed. Cool fantasy effects of life in the afterworld.

"Youth in Revolt" (R) Nerdy Michael Cera seeks to lose his virginity by creating an alter ego in this comedy. Awful language, sexual situations, drug use. Not a good kid picture, though that's who it was made for. Weak reviews, as well.

"Daybreakers" (R) Vampires, violence, blood, nudity, language. I wouldn't send my kid until at least age 18, no matter how hot bloodsuckers are right now. It got bad reviews, too.

"Broken Embraces," "A Single Man" (R). Adult films with adult, sexual themes, drug use etc. Not kid stuff, unless your kid is exceptionally mature.
